Manfred Schönebeck

Chancellor

Manfred Schönebeck is Chancellor of the Carl Benz Academy and Managing Partner of Berlin-based consulting company E.R.P. GmbH. Mr Schönebeck is a qualified and practicing Psychologist who has spent more than 25 years working as a psychotherapist, counsellor and mediator. He has experience as a journalist in both radio and television in Germany and has worked for many years in the fields of communication, research and consulting. Mr Schönebeck was a pioneer in the area of internet research, starting his work in 1989, well before it became a popular or well-understood field. The Chancellor is also an entrepreneur and has founded companies in Germany, the United States, Hong Kong and mainland China. He specialises in luxury brands; automotive; IT developments; HR Projects; coaching; intercultural communication; project management; psychological research; and interaction and communication design.

Mr Schönebeck is committed to the development of outstanding individuals in the areas of education, IT and entrepreneurship and aims to work together with the students and professors of the Academy to reach new horizons in customized and globalized education.

 

Prof. em. Dr. Jürgen Zimmer
Prof. em. Dr. Jürgen Zimmer

President

Prof. em. Dr. Jürgen Zimmer took up the position of President on May 1st 2016, following the recent departure of Professor Dr. Ada Pellert, and he will fulfil the role of President in an interim capacity until confirmation of the ongoing President is made at the Academy's next Board of Trustees meeting in 2016.

Jürgen Zimmer is Professor emeritus of Education Science at the Free University Berlin and Founder and President of the International Academy Berlin for Innovative Pedagogy, Psychology and Economics (INA) gGmbH. He is Founder of the School for Life and President of the School for Life Foundation in Chiang Mai, Thailand. In addition, he is Director for International Affairs of the Rural and Social Management Institute (RASMI) in Bangkok, Thailand. Professor Zimmer sits on the Supervisory Board of High Seas High School, Spiekeroog and is a Consultant of World Economic Forum. He has undertaken consulting and project work in around 30 countries in Asia, Latin America, Africa and Europe and has numerous publications to his name. He has numerous publications and has been awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

 

Prof. Dr. Ada Pellert

Founding President (2011 – 2016)

Prof. Ada Pellert studied Business Administration at the University of Economics in Vienna, where she received her PhD in 1987. She qualified as a Professor in 1998 at the University of Klagenfurt in the field of organizational development of scientific and educational institutions. Her areas of expertise include education and university management, education policy, organizational and personnel development, management and leadership, quality assurance, lifelong learning strategies and personnel and diversity management. Professor Pellert was founding President of Carl Benz Academy and fulfilled this role from January 2011 until March 2016. In addition, she was President and Professor for Organizational Development and Education Management at the Berlin University for Professional Studies (DUW) in Berlin. Prior to this role, she also held university management positions and professorships at various Austrian universities. As of March 2016, Professor Dr Pellert is the Rector of the University of Hagen.

 

Jason Yang Yuxin 杨宇昕

Director & Deputy General Manager

Yang Yuxin 杨宇昕 is Director & Deputy General Manager of the Carl Benz Academy and Chief Representative of the Beijing office of consulting company E.R.P GmbH. He has a Master of Science in Management and is an expert in market research and consulting, qualitative analysis and in-depth interviews. Mr Yang has experience in the development, analysis and communication of tailored market research projects and human resource initiatives such as employee and management satisfaction surveys and tools to assist in the daily administration of human resources. Mr Yang specializes in the automotive industry in China and is an experienced moderator and project leader of international teams.

 

 

Academic Board

The Academic Board is responsible for overseeing the effective delivery of the Carl Benz Academy’s academic program to students, according to the standards and objectives of the Academy’s partners. They play a key role in curriculum development; course delivery; research; maintenance of academic standards; student liaison and new program development.

Prof. Liu Qiao

Prof. Liu Qiao 劉俏 is Professor of Finance and Associate Dean at the Guanghua School of Management at Peking University, in Beijing, China. Prior to joining Guanghua, Professor Liu taught at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Hong Kong, and also worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company’s Asia-Pacific Corporate Finance and Strategy Practice, where he advised MNCs and leading Asian companies on corporate finance and strategy. Professor Liu holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from UCLA (2000), a Master in International Finance from the Graduate School of People's Bank of China (1993), and a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Mathematics from the Renmin University of China (1991). Professor Liu’s primary academic research interests are in corporate finance, empirical asset pricing models, financial markets, and Chinese economy and he has published broadly across these fields.

 

André van Niekerk, Ph.D.

André B. van Niekerk, Ph.D., holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University in Educational Administration / Marketing, a M.A. in Psychology / Counseling from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, and a B.A. in Psychology, History and Music from Pacific Union College in Angwin, California. His field of expertise lies in both the Corporate World as well as Higher Education. He has been a college Dean and Vice President and has held positions in business and industry as Associate Director of UCLA Medical Center as well as the UCLA Medical Group. Dr. van Niekerk is considered to be one of the nation's foremost Product Development specialists with numerous nationally and internationally recognized products and services to his credit. His further expertise is focused on Luxury Brands – especially in the automotive industry where major clients, amongst others, include Mercedes-Benz, Smart, BMW, and Volvo.

Beth Sibly (MBA)

Beth Sibly (MBA), Supervisor of the Academic Board, is is Deputy Director, Further Education Projects (China) for the International Academy Berlin. She is currently responsible for project management in the fields of international education and human resources, with a focus on China. Ms Sibly gained her Master of Business Administration from the Berlin University for Professional Studies and her Bachelor’s degree of International Business (Honours) from the Flinders University of South Australia. In addition to 5 years consulting and project management work in Germany, her previous experience includes more than 6 years in China working on project management and human resources with Mercedes-Benz (China) and a local Chinese trading company. She has experience in public policy development in the fields of human resources; and science and innovation with the State Government of South Australia and specializes in international project management and communication.
